Once you write your e-book, you will need a system to sell e-books online. Most authors want a webpage that contains links to free information, articles, and even the author's biography and seminar schedules. However, I am here to tell you that this is the wrong kind of website to sell your e-book. Those links confuse readers or send them elsewhere. In any case, they don't buy.

If we can't rely on fancy websites to sell an e-book, what else is there?

Your website should have only one subject your e-book. A single page site is the best way for marketing information products. By keeping all the information on one page, while removing all links except for the "Buy It Now", the entire focus of your audience is on your e-book.

If you add dozens of links, you distract readers. Before they have a chance to consider the merits of your e-book, they have departed to read something else. Check out my website as an example. I have many products listed. Still, my best products, my biggest moneymakers, each have a single page website with only one link the buy it now button.

Even though your website is simple, it isn't easy. You must write a great title to immediately capture the attention of visitors. You have mere seconds to catch their eye; if you fail, they move on to another website. If you succeed, your e-book will sell. Write a title that defines the problem, that catches their attention and convinces them that you have their solution.

Get their attention quickly with something like, "I was shocked that the average wedding in 2005 cost thirty thousand dollars." Your visitors will start thinking to themselves, "Whoa, I didn't know it cost that much. I better read on to see if there's something I can do about this."

Don't underrate the importance of your title, or headline. This will either grant your visitor's attention or send them yawning to the next site. The only way to sell your e-book is to capture their attention and encourage them to buy.

When you develop your website, spend most of your time writing your attention-grabbing headline. It will pay off in the long run. Part 2 will discuss the rest of your website and what important distinction you must make when you describe your product to your visitors.
