Have you noticed one of the latest trends in the fashion world these days? It seems every where you look, men and women of all ages and sizes are sporting a neck scarf. Scarves used to be only worn by older woman as a covering for their hair. Nowadays scarves are being worn by just about everyone and they truly are a fashion statement. In today's society and are becoming more and more popular as a regular accessory to any wardrobe style.
There are many ways to accessorize your wardrobe with a neck scarf. Since you can find every color in solid or patterned, you have many options.
Style Options
One of the easiest and most attractive ways to wrap a longer scarf around your neck is to fold it in half joining the two ends together; then with the scarf wrapped around from the back of your neck to the front, pull the loose ends through the folded end of the scarf, then pull gently to tighten. This makes a nice, loose knot in the middle of your chest with the scarf hanging down the center of your torso. With the knot in this area, it draws attention to your face, away from the lower half of your body.
Another option is to leave the scarf unfolded; place the scarf over the front of your neck and loop around your neck back to the front leaving the two ends draping down the front of your torso. This option is best with a really long scarf. It helps conceal a "muffin top" and can help help conceal a double chin as well.
Using Scarves to Dress Up an Outfit
You can dress up just about any outfit with a scarf, even t-shirt and jeans! Using one of the techinques above, simply add a scarf in any color in your wardrobe. As an example, I was wearing a blue t-shirt with some dark brown in it, so I added a brown scarf to dress up the t-shirt. I personally don't like wearing t-shirts because they make me feel even more boxier than I already am, but after adding the scarf, I felt thinner and looked a lot less boxy!
Adding a scarf to a pant suit or skirt and blazer outfit can really dress it up! Using the first technique above, tuck the ends of the scarf into the blazer, placing the knot just above the buttons of the blazer for a professional look. Obviously you will want a scarf that matches your suit well in color and material.
To dress up an evening gown or other fancy dress, use a scarf that is thin and that flows. If your dress is black, use an eye-popping color like fuschia, royal blue or chartreuse. Match your footwear.com">shoes as closely as possible to complete the look.
Teens use scarves every day as part of their regular wardrobe. They usually sport scarves in stripes or checkered patterns and often their scarves don't match their outfit in color, which is perfectly acceptable today.
No matter what style you are-casual, sporty, professional or grunge-scarves can give your wardrobe that extra touch of classiness to look and feel your best!
Choosing which scarves to buy first
If you don't own any scarves yet, the best thing to do is start with a black one. You will want to choose the material of the scarf based on where you live and the season. Black is a great color to start with because it goes with just about everything. Get used to wearing it and trust me, it will grow on you!
Then once you get used to it, you will want to add to your scarf collection. Choose another color that is in your wardrobe or that is contrasting to colors in your wardrobe. If you have lots of blue shirts, a yellow scarf will add contrast and spark to your outfit. Other contrasting colors are red/green, orange/blue, brown/pink, brown/blue and green/yellow.
Since most scarves are really reasonable to purchase ($3 to $10) they can be a great way to revive any old outfit! So, starting with one or two, you will soon be the queen of fashion! Okay, I can't really promise that, but trust me, people will notice!
