Born on 11th May, 1932, in Italy, Valentino, actual name Valentino Clemente Ludovico Garavani is a popular fashion designer who primarily started the Valentino SpA brand and company. Valentino gained immense popularity by designing and manufacturing an exclusive range of custom made clothes, the Haute Couture and pret-a-porter fashion sequence.

When he was still studying in a middle school, in Voghera, his interest in fashion aroused greatly and he found a way to get into the fashion industry. To accomplish his career in fashion segment, he left for Paris, where he joined Jacques Fath after which he joined Balenciaga. He also worked with Jeans Desses as par time assistant and even made several sketches for Jacqueline de Ribes. This was not enough, after this he also worked for Guy Laroche. Giving five years of his sincere dedication to Desses, he went to Italy and finally commenced his own house of fashion in Rome.

Giammetti, a commercial mastermind met Valentino and helped him immensely to bring out the most desired designs and innovative creations and all this led to a great success in the field of fashion clothing. Valentino contributed sincerely to his fashion house and bravely stood against bankruptcy filed against him as his father's assistant had left the business. Then, after this, Valentino and Giammetti shook hands and started their own business and worked day and night for its success and fame, ultimately they achieved immense popularity and growth in the world of fashion industry, in the initial phase of their career.

Valentino, with his innovative creations and talented designs created an evening wear range which soon reached the target audience and gained enormous success in the International fashion market. His sophisticated collection included dresses with stylish looks and bright colors which was a unique range. Valentino's designs were comparatively traditional and reflected boldness in his creations, as compared to other famous brands. He keenly focused to set a new trend to combine beauty with elegance but however hard he tried, his designs still lacked the contemporary look. His designs were mostly meant for the women belonging to the luxurious society and not for any ordinary class, only a woman from the wealthiest class could afford to wear the Valentino range for women.

Valentino targeted the audience belonging to the extremely rich category and this can be easily seen from his creations. He concentrated to design the most expensive wear that had a feminine touch. Thus, his entire collection lacked the feel of modernity and trend which was the greatest drawback in his creations, where as the major players like Versace or Armani had a huge collection of the most modern clothes that attracted a huge crowd. Valentino's collection was only meant for the high class society which also depicted the sophisticated dressing sense of the women belonging to that elite class along with their behavior. His designs actually render to the taste of the Hollywood actresses of the mid 30's. but then he was greatly appreciated for his collection by the legendary stars such as Gloria Swanson, Merle Oberon, Joan Crawford and Greta Garbo. Later on, in his 70's, the taste of his creation still remained the same as it was earlier. His designs still lack modernity and therefore are considered to be old-fashioned and out dated for the recent trend that is set in the world of fashion. Thus, its creations are difficult to survive in today's fashionable atmosphere as his creations were actually meant for the richest and the upper class society.
