One of the important factors in search engine optimization is internal linking. What is internal linking? How can this help your forex site? What is the proper basic linking structure? How can this increase the pagerank?
Search engine optimization includes link exchange, but that is not all you can do. If you think that only links from other forex-related sites can bust your website performance, you are heartily mistaken. There is one more kind of linking - INTERNAL.
Internal linking provides direct access to your pages and you have a complete control over it. Properly used, strong internal links can significantly improve your rankings.
Although there are many ways to accomplish a proper internal linking, below are couple of tips any affiliate/webmaster can use to ensure the success:
1. Include links only to important sub-category pages from the main page in the navigation menu. Why not to link to all the pages? This will not only diffuse the weight (aka pagerank) of each individual link, but will also ruin the whole design of your site. To top it all, a potential trader will get totally confused by the amount of links!
If your site is about forex trading, such sub categories can be technical and fundamental analysis, brokers, trading platforms, news, indicators, tutorials, blog etc. The navigation menu with main sub categories should be available on every page of your site.
If your site contains plenty of information and navigation menu is not enough to cover it all - consider placing links in the footer.
"Showing off" every page of your website gets the pages found by the search engine spiders and therefore increases the indexed pages and the number of phrases (aka keywords) your site is ranked for.
Ah, and one more thing - pages such as "contact us", "privacy policy" and "terms and conditions" should not be in the top 10! The last thing you want, your potential trader reading the terms and conditions, instead of clicking on the broker reviews!
2. Use your forex keywords in the links when possible. This doesn't mean to stuff the keywords everywhere and anywhere. NO! Do it in a smart, not too obvious manner and it will help Google and other search engines to figure out what can be found on the other side of the link.
If you want to show up in the top positions on the search engines with several keyword phrases, start brainstorming on which page should rank for which phrase. This is why it is advisable to use the keywords in the anchor text of the links.
For example, your forex trading website homepage can have anchor text "forex trading main" instead of "home". Now, why should only homepage get the attention? When linking to internal pages via navigation menu or footer, use the keywords desirable for those pages as the linking text.
For example, if your forex site offers technical analysis, it might be a great idea to include a text link with the anchor text " technical analysis" for the link to your page with technical analysis. Doing so, your internal page is now connected with the keywords "technical analysis". Simple yet sophisticated, isn't it?!
3. Avoid placing more than 3 links to the same page on your main page. Unless you want to piss off Google, try to avoid everything that triggers spam issues!
