It may be easier than it seams, but it may also be harder, which is why you need to know what to do before you take a shot in the dark. If you plan on being a webmaster, this information may come in handy.

But before you start, you should know a few things first. It takes time to construct a good website, and will almost never happen overnight, unless you've done it before. It may seem easy to be dedicated before you start, but trust me, it's harder than it sounds. You may often find yourself wondering why you are doing such a seemingly hopeless activity (with all those big businesses out there, what chance do you have?). But it is in fact NOT hopeless, and you know that, it just takes a certain level of devotion and knowledge to be able to stay on track. If you have what it takes to be a webmaster, it can be a very profitable and rewarding experience.
Now comes the hard part, actually doing it. There are many ways that you can start your own website, some are bad, some are good. It often depends on how much time and money you are willing to put into your site (you can view it as a good investment, as long as you stick with it). These are the two best ways to begin:
Buy a Basic Site: This is, at first, the obvious way to start your own website, but, of course, it is far more complicated than it sounds. Constructing your own website from the basic page they give you will take some time, luck, and a good knowledge of HTML and PHP. You know what those are, right? They are absolutely essential if you are buying a basic page with a yearly fee, because you have to do a good part of the website programming by hand. Now that is not a bad thing (when I did HTML coding, it was actually quite fun, for me at least, not so much so for some of the others in my class), as it will allow you to completely customize your site, but it will take slightly longer. Good courses in website programming usually cost around a hundred bucks, but you can find them for cheaper; the one I use as a reference (yes I did classes, but no I never can remember everything) cost me around $40. You can find it through the link on the bottom of the page.
Buy a Preconstructed Site: A preconstructed site is one in which the resources that you would use to build the site are already made, and all you have to do is fill in your own content. Generally, these sites are far easier to build than a basic site (as they are 90% done already) and do not require a knowledge of website programming, but do not allow as much customization, and are quite a bit more expensive (up to hundreds of dollars a month). But there are some that have only a one-time fee. That fee is quite large (The one I suggest on my site is around $250), but the site is yours indefinitely, so it is actually a better deal if you are looking to have a permanent website. They also are easier to get search engine rankings on, as you are piggy-backing off of your host's site ranking.
