Adobe Dreamweaver CS4 provides many options for the web development environment you wish to work in. This is the same whether you are on a Mac or PC. Here are the different layouts you can choose from.

Adobe Dreamweaver CS4 provides many options for the web development environment you wish to work in. This is the same whether you are on a Mac or PC. Here are the different layouts you can choose from:
Classic Layout:
This is the layout you may be familiar with if you have used previous versions of Dreamweaver. In this view, the panels are docked on the right, and the workspace is in split code view. You also have access to the Insert panel at the top of the screen and the Properties inspector at the bottom. A great feature of this layout is that the docks can be rearranged so that you can customize the screen exactly how you want.
Coder Layout:
This is great if you want a no-frills environment to work in. You have a large area in the middle of the screen with only your HTML code, but you also have access to the Assets, Files, and Snippets panels on the left of the screen.
Coder Plus Layout:
This is pretty much the same as the Coder layout. The only difference is that there is an additional bank of panels on the right of the screen that give you quick access to the CSS Styles, AP Elements, and Insert functions.
App Developer Layout:
With this layout, the Behaviors, Bindings, Files, Snippets, Assets, and Databases panels will all be docked on the left. There is no Properties inspector, and the Document window is displayed in the center.
App Developer Plus Layout:
With this layout, the Behaviors, Bindings, Files, Snippets, Assets, and Databases panels will also be docked on the left. The Document window will be in split view, and the AP Elements, Insert, and CSS Styles will be on the right. This view also features the Properties inspector below the code.
Designer Layout:
This layout lets you view the Document window in split-view in the center of the screen, and the CSS Styles, Files, Assets, AP Elements, and Insert panels docked on the right. The Properties inspector is also docked at the bottom for quick access.
Designer Compact Layout:
This is identical to the Designer layout, except that the CSS Styles, Files, Assets, AP Elements, and Insert panels are displayed as icons.
Dual Screen Layout:
This is a powerful programming environment if you have two computer monitors. You can view the code or website layout on one screen, and all the panels on the other screen. You can also customize it however you wish.
As you can see, Dreamweaver CS4 gives you many options for how you would like to work on designing your website. Even if none of these options initially appeal to you, you can usually tweak and customize them to your satisfaction.
