Learning from the information on any website is the reason we all search the web. Using this information expands our understanding of a particular subject. Copying material for educational purposes is the only legitimate motivation to copy a website. To copy a website and reproduce the identical material is an illegal act that will lead to problems of frustration and discipline. Even banned from the search engines which is the life blood of a website. Our customers are the search engines, by doing this we are actually firing ourselves causing our own demise. I suggest not to do this making a duplicate or anything resembling a duplicate since you will be violating copyright laws and could find yourself in a world of deep poop. Maybe even in jail. Besides this is plagiarism and it is more work than it is worth trying to be somebody other than yourself.
Gathering information into one place such as a blank text document, copied information to learn from can add to your understanding of any given subject. For example I use Wikipedia and other sights to gain information regarding wireless IP cameras for another website I am working with. Many sites are very informative and helpful. By placing all of this information into one place it allows me to expand my understanding about a specific camera, for instance an IP camera. I then use this information to create my own content. Another way is to go to Ezine Articles or other article directories and search for the theme of your website and gather information from writers to compose your own material. In the event you do not like to create your own material and find an article you like, use the material giving full credit to the creator of the article.
A Learning Experience
I recently visited a site on the internet marketing a video camera pen. Arriving at the site I was impressed with the way the product was displayed. This gave me some ideas to display my own products. With the ideas I received from this page I was able to blend them with my own, helping me to create a better looking web page. This is how we all gain understanding and develop our own creative content.
When I was in the real estate investment business and purchased a house needing a coat of paint I would always look for a color on another house that was attractive to me. I would match the color and choose a different color for the trim but the base color was a match to the house I was attracted to. By changing the trim color and a few other adjustments I would have a nice looking house with colors that went well together. The finished base product was the same but the overall look was totally different. I do not pick colors very well from the samples at the store. I have to see color in action. When we get Ideas from others and alter them they become our own creativity.
When we think about how to copy a website how we perceive this and the action we take will determine our success or failure.
What good is the copy and paste button if we cannot use it to copy useful information from a website then gain ideas to create new content?
When buying an existing a website look for the websites own unique content and presentation. Value will abound in originality.
